Why Baby Why
I have some VERY exciting news! I was JUST in the studio working on a duet with my good and dear friends and label mates The Matinee!!! The Matinee are one of the most talented and greatest group of guys. We took over the Armoury Studios in Vancouver a few weeks back and had the opportunity to work with producer Mark Carman. Mark is an amazing producer and a wonderful person. I learned so much from him about the business and well about everything. He has worked with everyone from Alabama, The Judds, Trace Adkins and most recently The Hunts. Mark brought is team up with him from Nashville and Virginia and we locked ourselves in the Armoury for a few days and created something I think you will all really like!! I was so happy because they had a day off and I was able to show them around vancouver! We are just in the process of getting ready to release and I will post an update very shortly
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! I sure did! I ate way too much. But that’s what Easter is all about! I just wanted to let you all know that I posted some new show dates and will be adding to that list as we get closer to summer! I don’t know about you all but I cannot wait for some warm weather!
Also, I wanted to take a minute and thank CMT and everyone at Country radio especially in BC! JRFM, Country 107, Country 103 and Country 100.7 You’re support for “Hide Your Matches” has been absolutely amazing. With so much great music out there, the fact that you play mine is a true honour. Thank you so much.
I will check back soon!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! I would have written sooner but I am just getting back into the swing of things as I was away in Mexico and Hawaii! I spent 4 days in Puerto Vallarta at a resort with my boyfriend for a “work retreat”. I think we need to talk to the BCCMA’s about holding a conference in Mexico! Who’s with me? Anyways, we had a great time! I haven’t been to Mexico in about ten years and I forgot how beautiful it is and not to mention the all inclusive experience!! I am paying for that now! I actually have hidden my scale for the time being but you only live once! We then arrived home for a few days and headed to Maui for a sunny Christmas with my entire family. We spent Christmas and New Years in Kihei and it was wonderful just to wake up surrounded by palm trees and one of my favourite flowers, the hibiscus.
So now that I am back and through this fog… I have been reflecting a lot about this past year. I feel that 2012 was really the end of an never ending chapter as my debut album Wild Card was released!! For those of you who don’t know me very well, you might not know just how long I have been waiting for this. Since I could talk, I knew that I wanted a career in music. I also used to think sneaking into my sisters rooms and putting on makeup was hard let alone the music industry! But I was blessed to have wonderful parents who have been there for me from the beginning and if it weren’t for their love and support I couldn’t do it. When I graduated high school I pursued music, however a different end of it. I spent about 4 years in pop and realized it wasn’t for me and I then took a trip down to Nashville. That’s where it all began. You see, when you have a love for music you just want to be involved in anything to do with it and that’s what I did. I auditioned for absolutely everything from community theatre, to folk, to opera, pop and country. It really wasn’t until I grew a bit older that my tastes and passions were narrowed down as well as growing up listening to Brooks and Dunn, Elvis, Patsy Cline ad Etta James. After my trip I started taking vocal lessons and then headed back to Nashville to record a ten song independent record which led me to meet my manager David Wills and co producer Paul Shatto. We have been working side by side ever since. We started out recording some songs, then recording some more and long story short 3 years later I got signed to 604 Records! What a moment that was. From there, Jonathan SImkin who I had always looked up to was helping me as well as the wonderful team at 604 Dayna Burgoin, Jenna Robson and Keri Gillerd to make this record. I was sent to some amazing artists and producers here in Vancouver such as Ryan Stewart and Josh Ramsay as well as going to Nashville and writing with Tebey, Jason Blaine, Kat Higgins and recording with Chad Carlson! It was such an incredible experience but it definitely was not an over night process. When the record was completed I then waited a little over a year and on October 30th 2012 it was released. I am very proud of this record and most importantly I am very thankful to everyone involved. Along with the record coming out, I shot my second music video for my single ‘Hide Your Matches”. It was shot by the incredible Stephano Barberis on a beautiful sunny ( but cold!) day at the house where I grew up! I can’t even begin to describe working with Stephano. He just is amazing at what he does and I am really proud of this video. Stephano won ( and I can’t tell you how many years in a row!) Video Director of the year at the British Columbia Country Music awards in November and I took home Female Artist of the Year for the second year!!! I just don’t even know how to begin to thank everyone for voting for me. When I won last year, I was shocked. I had never expected winning and I can say 100 percent I was even more shocked this year for some reason. I was up against some wonderful artists and friends and it just meant so much to me because of everything i have been going through this past year. As wonderful the industry can be, it can also be very difficult. I have never pursued a career in music for the money ( lol because every artist knows there really isn’t any!) or for the awards, but to be nominated and selected by peers was very special and it really just makes me feel like I am doing something right. Unlike receiving grades at University there is no right and wrong in music. There are only instincts and luck. There are no courses you can take that can guarantee success you are simply left to the school of working hard and selecting a team of good people that can stand beside you. I am so appreciative of the team I have and for all of you who read my blogs and follow my career.
I can now end 2012 feeling that a door has closed and prepare to see what 2013 will bring. I am just in the midst of putting together some show dates as well as updating the site! Thank you again for a wonderful 2012!
My second single “Hide Your Matches” is being released to radio this Monday, October 1st!! I couldn’t be more thrilled for this song! It was written by one of my idols, Hillary Lindsey who wrote the beautiful song for Faith Hill “Stronger” and Carrie Underwood’s “Last name”, “So Small”, “Jesus Take the Wheel” . That’s just to name a few! This song has a big place in my heart for many reasons and I can’t wait for you to hear it! I will post the song soon! But here a little teaser of the artwork.
I also have some other news! My album “Wild Card” is going to be released October 30th!!! Ahh!!! I have been working on this record for such a long time that to have a date of release is the best feeling in the world! I will be doing some special giveaways and posting some news in the upcoming weeks!
Last but not least, I just wanted to share my recent show up in kamloops, BC. I opened for Grammy award winning blues and rock artist Johnny Lang! I hadn’t heard much of his music so I didn’t know what I was in for and he blew me away. Absolutely incredible. Every note played, and sang ( and a lot at the same time) was packed full of emotion. If I closed my eyes it would seem like this person had lived a very long life but he is only in his early 30′s! Also the band that was playing was killer to! We got to hang out with Johnny afterwards and it was really cool because he was the most down to earth guy. Just a lover of music like all of us. It was a really inspiring show and I just thought I would share it with you.
Ok well that is all for now! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks to all of you who stopped by to see what I have been up to!

Oh my I am so excited that I don’t even know how to start this blog! For all of you who know me, you know that I have been waiting for this day for soooooo long! Because, my first single on 604 Records “See Through” was released to radio this past Tuesday!! Now I know that I said that the first single would be “Wild Card” the title track off the album, but hey, it’s the music business and things change on a dime! In addition to the excitement of the single, I shot my very FIRST music video with the really creative and talented Stephano Barberis. It was truly a dream come true. I got to be a princess for a day, getting my hair and makeup done and got to test my acting chops a little! We started the day at 9:00 am and didn’t wrap until about 11:30 pm! We shot the video in this amazing Vancouver Penthouse and also shot in the heart of historic Gastown. I just still can’t believe how nice everybody was! I am hoping the video will be out at the end of next week because I really can’t wait for you guys to see it!!
In addition to the music video and single, I have been working with my family on a pilot for a reality show called “Whats New With The Woodworth’s”. That is really all I can say about it right now but stay tuned!!
Also, I have just added some new show dates for this summer! I hope to meet and see some of you again!
Now before I sign off, I thought I would give you a little bit of background behind ‘See Through”. “See Through” is a song that I recorded and co wrote with Canadian producer, Ryan Stewart ( Carly Rae Jepsen, Andrew Allen, Victoria Duffield, Melissa Rae Barrie) as well as the lovely Stacey Mckitrick. It is about a girl who is in love with her best friend yet he is in a relationship with someone else. However, later in the song he realizes he has feelings for her and they kiss but then he goes back to the other girl. I think and well I hope, that “See Through” is a song that people can really relate to.
Ok everybody well I think that is all for now! Oh wait one more thing…. I would really really appreciate it if you could please call your local radio station and request ” See Through”. Being a new artist at radio it would really help me a lot!! And I promise I will be writing a lot more regularly with updated show dates and news!
Oh and ps. Here are some pictures from the shoot!
Hi!!!! Oh my I can’t believe how the time flies!
It has been a really busy couple of months! and I have some very exciting news to report! I received Female Artist of the Year at the British Columbia Country Music Awards!!! It was the most amazing night and I can 100 percent say I was NOT expecting to win! I was actually in the dressing room changing back into my dress ( because I had just performed) when someone was yelling my name so I quickly got ready and they told me I had won! and to hurry up and accept my award because people were waiting! Anyways, I really don’t know how to thank all of you for believing in me . I know I have yet to release a single and the fact that you voted for me in hopes I will do something truly great once I do, gives me so much momentum to push through this sometimes challenging business. I cannot thank you all enough! It was also a big year for my really good friends and co workers David Wills and Paul Shatto. I know co worker isn’t exactly the right word. Well it isn’t at all because they are so much that that. They are the reason I have gotten to where I am. I met both of them at The BCCMA’s as I was the “trophy girl”. David and I started working together right off the bat as he believed in me and my abilities when I still had a lot to learn. So I just want to say a big congratulations to David Wills for winning “Music Person of the Year” and Paul Shatto for winning Producer of the Year”.
It has been a very busy few months of travelling as well! I went down to Nashville on a writing trip and came back with a song I co wrote with Jason Blaine and Tebey and another I wrote with my good friend Kathleen Higgins. I think Kathleen is probably the sweetest girl I know and she is so incredibly talented. We wrote a song at Deric Ruttans house as we were getting ready to attend an ugly clothing party! I am so excited for you to hear this song because it is really special to me as Kathleen lent her vocals to the song and it is a duet! A month later, I headed back down South to record with Chad Carlson! I was so excited and a little nervous because I have heard so much about Chad and he has worked with Taylor Swift a bunch! The minute we met we totally hit it off and I had the time of my life! I am so excited about these last few songs on the record! And that it is almost finished! I even have the title for the album!!! Which I won’t reveal just yet! It is actually a funny story because the day before we left, I needed one more song to record in Nashville. I listened to a lot of songs, but nothing struck me quite right. I just felt like there was a part of me that still wasn’t present on the record and so I called my pal Jesse Tucker and said “Ok we need to write a song that is a hit and I am going to record it in Nashville”. A little cocky I know! Anyways Jesse came over and I told him my idea and within two hours we had a completed song that is my favorite on the record because it is really my autobiography and its the title track for the record.
Along with Nashville I also got to travel to Switzerland! I have never been before and what a beautiful country! I had fondue! Lot’s of it! My waisline didn’t thank me too much but it was worth it! Took the train to Paris! Anyways it was just so much fun! So now playtime is over and it is time to work! The Christmas song had a lot of adds this year! Thank you to everyone at radio for adding it! My first single will be released next month and I cannot wait! For all of you who know me, you know I have been waiting for this for years!!!
I have just put up some new show dates as well so please check those out! For all of you who read this until the end THANK YOU! I will write a lot sooner now and it won’t be as long I promise!
Well I better run! Talk soon!
Time is just flying by! I Can’t believe its October already, well almost November! There’s been a lot going on and well let’s see where do I start! Oh! I went down to Nashville last month for a writing trip to finish up my record! I had such a great time down there. I mean how can you not! For anyone reading this, if you haven’t made a trip down to Music City you must! The history, the music, the people make it such a fun place! Ok well I sound like a travel agent or something but really go! Anyways, I went down for a week and wrote with Jason Blaine, Tebey Ottoh, Craig Monday and Kathleen Higgins and two of the songs I wrote I am cutting next week back in Nashville! One song in particular is really special for me because I co wrote it with my friend and one of my favorite female singers, Kathleen Higgins. I can’t wait to record it and show you all! I will be heading down to Nashville on Monday for a week of recording. Chad Carlson will be producing the four songs and I couldn’t be more excited! Chad has worked with Taylor Swift, Jewel, Chris Issack and Jessie Farrell to name just a few!
I am also very excited because my Christmas song “Christmas( Baby Please Come Home”) will be a part of the 604 Christmas Compilation album and hitting radio across Canada so please look out for that! It is also available on itunes!
This year I was selected for the voice of the PNE parade! I was chosen last year for the Hundred Year Anniversary and it means so much to me to be a part of this, as the PNE has been a huge part of my childhood! Plus it is always fun to be in the studio!
I also want to say a big thank you to all of you who nominated me for BCCMA Female Artist of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year. I have been with Variety the Children’s Charity for about a year and a half as the spokesperson for Gold Heart and I just feel so lucky to be able to work with such a special charity. So far I have made a lot of friends, and met so many families and children that truly blow me away by their courage and strength. It is an honor to be nominated so thank you so much! It is going to be a great awards weekend as there is so much talent here in B.C. Hope to see some of you there!
Oh and for all of you Hockey fans! I am hosting JRFM night at the Vancouver Giants game this Sunday at 5:00 pm. I am going to be singing the anthem and debuting some new songs from the upcoming album!
Well I better let you guys go! Those of you who held in there and read this until the end thank you!!! I tend to talk a lot! Or type a lot! I can’t wait until my album is complete and I get to share it with you, as it has been such a long time coming! I recently did a photo shoot with the amazing Karolina Turek and I thought I would share a few new pics! I just love Karolina! She is such a fantastic photographer and great girl!
Well I think that is all for now! Thank you for stopping by!
I hope you are having a wonderful summer! and if you are from Vancouver, well let’s hope summer finally arrives! I just wanted to check in with you and say hello! I am going to be making a few small changes to the site very shortly so please check back for that! and also I have added a bunch of new show dates to my schedule including opening for Uncle Kracker on July 19th! Thank you so so much for stopping by!
